Lincoln Applied Geology, Inc. (LAG) is well adept at performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in strict accordance with ASTM Practice 1527-2000. What is an ESA? An ESA is generally performed to determine if a significant potential for environmental contamination exists at the site in question due to past uses on and directly adjacent to the site. The goal of the process is to identify "recognized environmental conditions" consisting of release or threat of release of any hazardous substances or petroleum products which may impact the ground, groundwater or surface waters of the property. The ESA is also performed to ensure that the property owner satisfies one of the requirements to qualify for an "innocent land owner defense" if contamination is found on property due to other circumstances. The Process In addition to comprehensive field investigation, LAG performs a significant amount of background research regarding operations at and adjacent to the site including the review of a number of documents and databases. Some typical sources include but are not limited to:
After thorough investigation, LAG generates a comprehensive report that details all the data collected on-site including conclusions regarding the potential for recognized environmental impacts. |
