The Town of Chelsea

Overview

Gasoline-related contaminants found in the town of Chelsea, Vermont water supply well forced the town to relocate their water supply. Lincoln Applied Geology, Inc. (LAG) identified a new location for the town well via fracture trace analysis and historic land use investigation.

Hydro-Geologic Evaluation Plan

LAG conducted two types of pump tests: continuous pumping and cycle pumping (12 hours on / 12 hours off). LAG monitored water levels throughout the pump tests on the property and neighboring wells.

Relocation of the Well

LAG located the source of contamination and determined a new, safe location for the town water supply well. Also, LAG designed and prepared a source protection plan in accordance with the Vermont Water Supply Rule.
